RIP lcuk, I did not know you personally, I do recall sharing some laughs and your helping me with MeeGo issues on IRC. My condolences to lcuk and his family.

There's a poem that contains the following lines:

I never knew him
And I envy those who did.

They certainly apply in this case.

May he rest in peace.

Gary was a real friend to me as one of the few women in Maemo. I recall him taking great care of me in Dublin, including during our visit to the Guinness centre. He kept saying he didn't like Guinness, so it must have been a real sacrifice to drink mine so I didn't have too much:

I'm lost on words... I have briefly met him on both t.m.o. threads but moreso on IRC where we discussed about freeing up more rootfs space, at that time joerg_rw was asking about freeing up more space particularly with all those i10n locales.

Little did I honestly knew that liqflow was by him even though I've seen name of author on the program but I did not know his handle on internet was lcuk.

It's really sad to see you go lcuk, we could have shared more ideas on hacking away maemo and proving that Nokia Internet Tablets were not really crap devices. Farewell

Reading through this thread makes me sad for 2 reasons.
I'm sad that Gary is no longer among us and sad because I've never had the opportunity to meet him.

I wish everyone here who knew Gary and his family and close friends all the luck and a lot of strength during these hard and difficult times.

RIP Gary

I remember Gary was one of the first to ever befriend me online when I jumped on IRC and was scared crapless about how many people where there at #maemo and what everyone was talking about... which was like trying to read Sputnik for me. *lol*

To me he was a fun and social nerd.

Not too many people like him now days.

I should at least check out his liqbase stuff just to see how he enjoyed part of his life.

I hope he loved God before he passed.

Hi all,

I've heard back from three out of the five council, so I'll take that as a majority.

I've sent a card to Tracy “from all Gary's friends in the Maemo Community”.

Hopefully by Monday we'll know more about what Tracy wants by way of tributes/donations/etc. If flowers are allowed, I'll send a small floral tribute from the community as my contribution. Then I'll ask her quietly whether she would prefer donations to go to charity or whether she'd appreciate a small collection for herself and the boys. It will be possible to send Charity donations by cheque in pounds sterling via the funeral director once we know which charity. If that's not what Tracy wants, we can organise something via my paypal account for those who trust me.

We should also have details of the funeral by Monday or Tuesday. If anyone is near enough and wants to represent us, that would be brilliant.

I'll keep you posted when we know more.
