I find the N900 photos very nice and the fact that you can tweak the exskier speed and iso gives you full control. For anything more than that I use an slr.

The only problem I ever have taking pictures is when I hit the on/off button instead of the shutter button.

Well at least for me it's different situation than the OP is. I got my n900 on the wedding day also and grabbed for taking photo's and most people there got amazed by how how I managed to grab my n900 and shoot photo's and managed to switch between different modes thanks at least to fcamera.
Specially the feature which you could do manual focus

It is true that the N900 is not the most dependable of phones. You wouldn't beleive the number of times I had people posing for me for minutes on end and my face heating up with shame as the camera takes long time getting into focus!
But I just love the power that this phone gives me and I love it unconditionally, faults and all.

Quite interesting, cause IMO camera focus is very quick on N900, with cameraui2 from Nicolai.

OMG really? So it might be a hardware problem???

But I can change the focus manually using fcam. So... I am confused? Should I take it to Nokia?

fcam? i like the image quality out of fcam more than the default camera's but i can't imagine using it to take pictures (with an S) of people who are holding on to their poses. fcam's too slow for me... slow to open, shutter lag... i can't imagine lots of people willing to wait for my phone to take the shot...
the default cam's pretty quick though.

note: hi ka-symb! hehe
