I go to maemo.org I go to repositories then I go to application catalog I add the repositories all is well until it goes to refresh list it always says unable to refresh list why is that?

Welcome to the frustrating world of maemo repositories. It usually means that one or more of the repositories is down or acting wonky. A good method for dealing with it is to disable the repositories on your tablet one at a time, then refreshing to see if you've found the culprit.

If you're on OS2008, it'll tell you which repo is having problems. If not, just run apt-get update (as root, with Application Manager closed) in xterm and it will tell you.

You can also look in the application manager: Tools > logs... to see which repositories have failed or were unavailable.

PS: Ignore the signature failures. those are another story..
