I installed Wizard Mounter, the .install was broken so i downloaded the .deb, installed dependencies and it installed without a problem.

However, when I try to start it, it says Wizard Mounter loading... message, then it simply disappears and the program never loads.

Did you ever get it to mount anything? If so, how?!

I've got a non PW protected read only share on my Ubuntu box (shared as SMB for the windows comps/xbox) but for the life of me can't mount it.

I've also gotten it to install, but have been unable to mount anything from my Windows XP SMB. Is there a help file anyplace for this?

It works for me to access my Windows shared folders.

Tips:
- Make sure you can access your Windows shared folder from another Windows computer first. Make sure sharing is enabled. Resolve any issues with password protection, firewall blocking, or (in my case) this silly Windoze issue: http://www.pcdoctor-guide.com/wordpress/?p=174
- Specify the computer by IP address (the N800 can't resolve Windows computer names)
- Specify the shared folder you want to access (e.g., "Documents" by default in WinXP)
- Specify a username like N800, and a password only if your Windows share is set up to use username/password access
- Specify Samba as the type instead of NFS

You can use Quick Mount, but obviously it's better to save a Bookmark if you are going to use it again (but remember to verify same IP address in future).

Mount the shared resource in Wizard Mounter.

You should then see your shared Windows directory pop up in the N800 file manager under Remote_filesystem

The entries under Remote_filesystem don't disappear when you UnMount the share in Wizard Mounter, but they show no content. You can delete these entries in the file manager to get rid of them.

I had the same problem.
Looks like a bug in instalation package.

I did the following:
1) I installed the Wiz.Mounter from the packages present in App.Manager.
This will install it but no icon.
2) Go to following address:
https://garage.maemo.org/frs/?group_...elease_id=2339

and click on wizard-mounter_1.2-maemo4.1_armel.deb

The system will ask if you want to open/download it.
Say open.
Then will ask you if you want to install Wiz Mounter-say yes again.
Will show you the new package is 0 kb.
No problem - go on with instalation.
The system will report success.
And if you check , you'll find the icon and the software works.

I can't explain why, but it does.

Good luck.
