What I'm trying to do is sort of a workaround to the problem of connecting a bluetooth headset, but I'm interested to know how could I route the audio through bluetooth to my PC. Now I've activated all the BT audio services on my PC, but I don't know how to make the N900 "see" the PC as a headset...
Thoughts?

Yes now can you please tell me how are you streaming audio to the PC? Via WI-FI? Bluetooth? Are you using a particular application?

Ok it seems that now for whatever reason the connect button appears when I select the computer from the list of paired devices and the phone connects and routes the audio accordingly, but I still can't hear anything from my PC. Apparently the bluetooth outputs the signal through the SPDIF optical of my sound card and not the regular line-out and I don't know how to change it

Establish the connection between the phone and the pc. Then on the pc, go to bluetooth devices, you will see n900. right click on it, you should see an option called control.Click on that which will open a new window with some options. One option would be, connect device to stream audio(or something similar). and thats it. just play music from your n900 and the output would be from your pc speakers.
