You can use the Mail for Exchange account with your Google account. Just enter your mail address and password and as servername m.google.com and you're good to go. Sync works with Contacts, Calender and Mail then.

So carriers are branding the N9 with their own crap.
You might need to flash an unbranded firmware image in order to get rid of it (I hope this is possible on simlocked or branded devices).

Yeah being done by some of the carriers in Australia too...
Although AFAIK there's no such thing as being sim-locked here, as if/where it occurs, you can have it removed by going to carrier's website etc.
