I installed powatool: simple-brightness-applet and flashlight-applet are both ticked already.
Very strange.

They were both working fine until last week when they stopped showing up in my applet tray. (I am not sure of the correct name of the GUI element).
I have tried uninstalling/re-installing Simple Brightness Applet to no avail. It does not show up any more.
For clarity, this youtube video shows the Flashlight applet as it should, and used to, appear:
Flashlight

Does anyone have any idea what may have gone wrong to make the applets disappear, or how to troubleshoot this issue to make them appear again, please?
