Hi All, I live in Egypt, recently all the mobile operators added digits to the begging of the mobile numbers; Is there any program, command or even a trick that came up in your mind to do that?? Actually I'm very dissapointed cuz this is the 1st thing that I couldnt do with my N900

Did I understand correctly?
The mobile numbers were given some new prefixes?
Like
former 0123 12345
now 990123 12345 ?

Then it should be possible:
- export all contacts from phone book to MyDocs/Exported Contacts as vCards
- write a script to replace/add those prefixes inside the (textual) vCards
- reimport

...why not use SQL to directly edit the numbers in the Contacts DB? I would refrain from VCS ex-/Import whenever possible. Too many issues with different formats and data loss.

SQL would also be possible, but not easier (OK, depends on qualification/experience)

Kind of off-topic question to don_falcone:
what kind of format problems/data loss you experienced. For me there was no problem at all and I could get my special features from N97 transferred to N900 only via VCF. Even they are not displayed in N900 address book app, they are stored in the phone book DB and ex-/imported properly (so I may view them in x-term with cat).

/home/user/.osso-abook/db/addressbook.db
It's Berkeley DB.

Will try that later

This really sounds like the ideal solution.
Nevertheless: I am saving a copy of my contacts always as .xls file converted by vCardGrid http://www.heise.de/software/downloa...9db_1320652882 , a tiny java application, therefore multi OS usable.
I do not know if there is a download side from the author himself. The application is German and english only.
