I see that new firmware is available for the N810, but when I launch the Nokia Internet Tablet Software Updater it tells me no upgrade is available!!

Anyone else notice this?

Download it manually. See this post for the current image: http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...63&postcount=2

And follow the instructions from here: http://europe.nokia.com/A4680164

You may try to acquire the image from the original source, but if you have troubles to get it, I suggest you try that another source.

We're well beyond -19 here, as the first official release of OS2008 has just hit.

my device is working perfectly now. is there any danger doing the upgrade? I would hate to kill it over an upgrade....

There's always some danger involved in these sorts of things but, honestly, the danger here is slim to none, and the benefits of the non-beta release are large and numerous.

What's the skinny with the installed applications? I did the upgrade to the latest firmware and it erased all the apps I had installed. I expected them to be restored from backup. Do I have to reinstall them?

yikes, this is what I am afraid of. Where do you put the back up -- on a PC, the internal drive or the removaable card?

It keeps a list of the installed applications with the backup that you can reinstall using the Application Manager. Just make sure to enable Extras, as it still doesn't become active after a restore from backup.

Ah, I think I get it now. I'm not near a hotspot at the moment so I'll have to give it a go when I get to one. Thanks.
