I haven't modified the software on the 770 other than the firmware update. I carry the 770 when i want something I can pocket that will provide the ability to surf the web/check webmail while walking around anywhere there might be free wifi, and to collect rss feeds for reading when I don't have wifi. Oh, and I've used it to look at the photos stored on my phone on a decent screen, which actually makes the camera in the phone much more useful. I've used it with slimserver to stream music. I find the pdf viewer to be too frustrating to use, but that's because I don't actually read the docs all the way through, I skip around a lot. I also think Adobe Reader on my PC is nearly too frustrating to use, so I don't blame Nokia for this.

Summary of likes:
-I rarely have to reboot.
-It really does last several days on stand by.
-It really is "instant on"
-The internal wifi antenna is sensitive
-It connects to wifi networks relatively quickly
-The high pixel density of the screen makes it really readable

I haven't been interested in having it perform video playback functions, although if the 770 could access my NAS, I would do those things too.

I also read somewhere that since the resolution is 800x480 and the screen is only 4.13" that the text for some sites is small. 800x480 is alot of pixels to have in a 4.13" screen. Also, that it could sometimes be annoying that the zoom goes from 100% - 150% - 200%. Do you find these to be a problem or just a small inconvience?

The text size is not too small for me. I rarely have to magnify. But it may be too small for older users? Still it may be madness to log too many hours of browsing with that small text size. You might get eye stress related ailments. But for that matter I wouldn't recommend hours of gameboy play. Everything in moderation. If at all possible, you should try to go to a brick and mortar store that may have 770 floor model (CompUSA?), and test drive it. See if the display is too small for your eyes. I didn't test drive before I bought my 770 but have found the screen size not to be problem for me.

Also I should add that ajax seems only marginally supported in the 770 browser. It sort of works. With sites using ajax on the increase I hope they add this support.

Also a lot of proprietary multimedia formats displayed on the net cannot be viewed, as there aren't plugins for it in the browser. Thus any content involving Quicktime, Windows Media, and Flash Video, you will have problems with, viewing through the browser. It seems to play Mpeg-2, AVI, mp3, mp4...etc stuff mostly in the video player, but it has to be encoded just right.

The video player plays movies pretty well, if you use the Media Converter. As a test I converted the Star Wars Episode III DVD I own, and I had no problems (about a 600 MB file) viewing it.

If you find the text fine then it should be fine with me.

Playing video, or the lack of it, on the internet doesn't really matter to me. I would assume that youtube and google video would work since you don't need any plugins for them (at least that I know of).
Do you know a reliable company to buy RS-MMC cards from? I am not familiar with MMC or SD (I never needed them since I don't own a PDA or a digital camera) cards and I was thinking about buying a 1gb card for movies and such. I would perfer to use my 1gb jump drive that I already own but I have read that unless you can supply power to it, you can not use it. I don't like buying electronics form a company I am unfamiliar with.

google video and youtube do not work as they require flash7.
The flash plugin for the 770 is currently at Flash6.

As for getting RS-MMC cards, I got my gig card at Amazon. It was cheap, and works fine. You may want to look at the "deals and promos" and "accessories" sections of this dForum and see if people have recommended any vendors.
