If anyone was playing around with the Python EFL bindings and whatnot before trying to install the new Canola, do be aware that there may be package conflicts between 'python-efl-core' and 'python2.5-efl-core', and removing 'python-efl-core' before installing Canola may save you a lot of headache. :P

GreySim: thanks for the config file info; mplayer I confirm is now being used.
barbieri: Unfortunately I'm getting a failure dialog: "Unable to install ogg-support-lightmediascanner".
Any thoughts?
add http://tuomas.kulve.fi/debian bora maemo and install my deb:
http://kenneth.christiansen.googlepa..._0.3_armel.deb
this should give you OGG support

GreySim: - with the updated lms for ogg, no joy still. It appears to install, but rescanning the media fails to pick up any .ogg files.
I shut down C2, rm -rf /home/user/.canola, restarted device even for good measure, and restarted following the lms install.
edit: In case its helpful -- I constructed a playlist, simply a m3u file which each entry is the full path to the media, and while the entries are displayed, "File not found" is returned by Canola2 when attempting to play.

I don't know if this was asked before but... What I have to do to tell Canola2 how to read my mp3 covers? They are inside the MP3 file and I have two extra .JPG in each album folder, one with the name of the folder and with the name "Folder.JPG". None seems to work because Canola keeps showing the default musical note cover.
Thanks!

I posted earlier in this thread with a link to a script that handles that, although I'm not sure how it works. I know it pulls the data from online sources and will ignore your existing covers, unfortunately (I keep my covers as cover.jpg in the folders myself), but Canola would need to resize those anyway, so you'd end up having to do some kind of conversion or run some script anyway probably, so it may as well be one that gets new images and resizes them.
I would look into how it works and all, but I'm probably about to pass out for a few hours, so good luck! If you get it to work and it's not obvious how, you should share your experience with it.

But is there ANY way to tell Canola to read my existing locally stored covers?
The number of hits these forums have generated the past 2 weeks should have been a nice indicator for what was to happen on release day.
In the meantime I have now 8 consecutive failed installs
I say : its a job badly done, I know my boss would not be amused If I treated our users like this.
