I've been looking for some opinion on the differences between displays on the N9.
take a look below at three N9's and their range of color temperature and brightness with brightness set to low and all 3 units from same vendor.
which do you prefer and how does your screen compare?

I don't know: Does it make sense to compare photos of a screen displayed on another screen? Probably both the characteristics of the camera and those of my own monitor play a role in how I see these three images at the moment. If I say I prefer the second one - does it say anything about the N9-display? Or is it a statement about color temperature and brightness on the monitor I'm using right now?

(BTW, color temperature and brightness are minor issues. I'd be content if the N9 would be able to display a uniform grey background instead of the weird "purple-to-green" gradient that we see... or if it could simply display black text on white background without adding green and purple lines to it across the screen.)

I was just very surprised and a bit dismayed by the range of display quality between units.
The far right unit is very dark (see more samples via the above link) and anything white shows up way too purple.
The middle one would be acceptable if I hadn't seen the far left one first which seems to be the most accurate at displaying white.
All units are China-made AUS 059L698 and not updated with PR1.1 yet but from what I've read the software is not to blame.
Has anyone confirmed a fix with color temp and tint with PR1.1 yet or is it a hardware thing? Is this a typical range for displays from the same vendor?

And I'm even more surprised about the difference in display quality on the same unit (upper left corner different than rest of the screen).

It seems they really got some really cheap component here and nobody can guarantee any kind of quality.

I have a Aus China made 059L694, and this is a third one after sending the previous to nokia care for replacement and still it has the same fault and defect, and with this unit, i reflash it with PR1.1 Uk version still, the problem persists.

I find my display pretty good until for example you are browsing on Ovi Store. The background grey is not consistent. It has darker shades of grey running through it? not sure if this is normal?

Has anyone compiled a thread/list where we can see which versions of the N9 have which problems? It would be great if people could just refer to a list, find their particular N9 and know if it will be problematic. I think AVSForum had done this in the past with certain TVs.

Best to kill this thread & keep following the one linked-to above.
It's still an evolving issue, for the better hopefully...
