hello I have GPS positioning settings all off. I think this is helping battery life but i wonder what you all have yours set to?

Have you done a full reset? (don't restore from a back-up, only back-up docs/vids/music etc)
Most folks I've observed with battery issues, have had them disappear once doing that.
Might be a PIA initially, but worth it in the LT....

Putting the GPS positioning to on does not affect battery life if you are not using the GPS.

Is that right? Let me ask you this, when the 3.5 surrounded in white turns blue this means the phone is using a data connection? Does the phone constantly search for a wifi signal? If so how do you turn off wifi completely?

The phone doesn't search for wi-fi connection. Once you are connected to wi-fi it stays connected. You can turn off wi-fi and 3G completely in Settings by disconnecting all internet connections.

When 3G data is being used it should turn red and a small arrow appears. When it is connected but not in use it is blue. This is what I get in my country but your mileage may vary.
