that odds cause the last time i repair a N95 there is a small battery soldered to the main motherboard....
which N95 is that? the normal one or the 8Gb (black N95)??

I dont exactly understand the problem, but if you remove and replace battery the time reverts back to 2009 in my device too.But after following the wiki article on NTP i solved the problem.Now when ever i connect to network,my device automatically updates the time and it is atomic time too

There's also a widget called "sync time now"
After you removed the battery, just pass the settings after you start up again, hit the button in the statusbar-menu

oddly I wasn't having this problem before (as evident in that thread) but it did start happening at some point. What is really odd though is that I have had my N900 since launch yet people had this problem before mine started. Why would that happen seeing as they could only have had it the same length of time as me?

I think this is a bug when you reflash. Look at that post and this it's exactly the same; after a reflash this starts to occur. My phone has since been reflashed too which might be when I started to see this. I don't think it's the button battery that has ran out.

My N900 hasn't been 'reflashed'...
