Great efforts guys

I need to get in touch with Michael Hseuh, winner of the beginners comp, in regards to the beginners prize Im sponsoring ( http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...&postcount=158) . Could someone provide his username/contact or ask him to get in touch with me?

The prize was a choice of Qt programming books, but one has been delayed and hasn't been published yet. I'll substitute $50 paypal or an Amazon gift certificate if Michael prefers, it might help his Christmas shopping budget

Edit: nvm it was on the wiki, Mhseuh. I'll be in touch later after work.

I've got the answer from Nokia.

Hi Cosimo,

Long time no see.

Robert
Basically he says that the winners from countries not in the EU have to expect to pay taxes.
If this is not an option for the winners he proposes two solutions:

A) To elect other winners (not an option for me, I think he didn't understand how we elected the winners)
B) To ask the winners if they'll be in Europe sometimes soon or if they have friends in Europe.

If you don't have friends in Europe he could send the devices to me, I'd mark them as gifts and send them to you if you want to. This is not a good solution because I'd have to pay the shipping costs , and marking as gift does not guarantee that you don't have to pay the taxes. Also I don't know how the situation regarding insurance is when marked as gift.

I told him that I think taxes are not that big deal but that I'll ask you to be sure.
Also I'll check whom of the winners is from outer EU and send them an email.

edit: this affects only three winners.

I'm sure I'm one of the affected winners
Taxes here in Argentina are very expensive
What's the price they'll declare for the N9?
I'm sure I'll have to pay around USD 250
Now, about the N900, I'm thinking about donating it to another participant
Sh1t! Nevermind... what else can I do?

Just a idea, but perhaps a good solution for you:
A other member could receive the device in your name, sell it on eBay here in europe and transfer the money to your paypal account.

You won't receive the full value of the device, but perhaps a good compensation.

can't nokia pull some strings and have Nokia Argentina ship CepiPerez's phone to his address? maybe that can be done for other contest winners too.

Great idea! Thanks!
Sent an email to Nokia, asking that.

You'd have to ask another winner if he wants to trade.
But sending money instead of the N900 is not possible.

I already have a N900. And if I need to pay a lot for it, then I preffer donate it. Maybe to the 3rd place of games section, wich has a lot of entries, and you can send the money to 4th and 5th places.
