Hey there guys,

*sigh* Guess another of the loose N900 USB ports here :/ I would like to confirm that though as I am getting weird infos from my N900, like charging for some moments and then no charging without touching it. It could also be my battery, I can't tell :/

I have here some dmesg related output for you to begin with (captured after inserting the cable and then having two break-ups from the charging cycle)

Is it normal that the charging is described in dmesg in regards of when it starts/stops? I assume that the break-up in the charging cycle was indicated by "regulatory_disable", but it might not be as my N900 is not allowed to turn its screen off while charging, but it did shortly after I captured this from dmesg which on the other hand should be shown then as a "regulatory_disable"-message in dmesg.
I should also note that my LED indicator is going all frenzy, at times flashing a weak red, and sometimes staying lit for a couple seconds. This is not happening though after my screen goes out! So those events are not coupled together.
I would also like to note that my N900 is at times starting the charging again without me detaching the cable and reattaching it.

There is also an odd message, though my battery not being full is "Disconnect charger from power supply to save energy" (Might be a bug in Maemo though and it does it all the times you unplug the cable, even though not fully charged).

If anyone can say whether this is a faulty USB-port or faulty battery I'd be grateful to know. The cable I use is my rarely used USB-cable from Nokia (meaning it should be a new cable) now as my power-cable has come loose with the pins holding it after roughly 1.5 years.

Cheers,

mikki-kun

P.S.: Just as I wanted to create this thread my N900 gave another warning which made a "denied"-like sound and a message saying "Not charging" while on my USB which was just working.
Oh and before someone asks. Most up to date kernel-power and yes, I did OC, but it has never shown any instabilities or any weird glitches due to OCing. I also never did it for longer than a couple minutes as my battery is sucked out really bad when OCing.

EDIT: Ok, I now did a dissassembly and who'd have guessed, a loose USB-port. Well, my soldering skills aren't really good though :/ I will try to read as much information as possible about resoldering it back properly, but if anyone has some helpful hints, I'd be glad to have them. Wouldn't want to loose my device :/
