Yeah. Sorry for my useless post Mac. 
I couldn't apt-get this though because I have way too many broken dependencies and it wanted me to correct those first.
Hence the reason for uploading the .deb for others who suffer like me.

^ I've tried to do the -forceinstall or update suggestion it makes but this has been a huge mistake for me the last three times I've done this.
For some reason, it even deletes Xterm off my tablet.
I don't know why it does that.

Hey.
Could you add watchdog to the services that can be stopped and restarted in the Settings feature?
I don't know how to handle that process and apparently it's the reason why Modest can never be fully killed off.

New test binary.
The alarm fixes are minor and I doubt they will fix any problems you have. The command button fix will keep ASUI from leaking memory or crashing when reloading config.
Run asui dit to download and install.
- additional check to make sure ASUI window completely slides back onto screen
- free command button text to prevent memory leak
- fixed a double free that was crashing ASUI when reloading config
- use correct alarmd ack value
- return minimal UI state when acting dead state is requested
- respond to acting_dead_open and acting_dead_close
