I am desperate for a full contacts and a calendar application. (I am aware of Garnet VM, but it really looks clunky to me.)
Anybody know any?
Thanks.

I'll be watching this thread, I would like to have one too that I could sync to Kontact or even jpilot. Troublesome that I still have to carry the Z31 just for the pim stuff.

And yes, garnet IS klunky for that kind of use - the UI really needs some work. That said, it is still nice to have even if it does blow up occasionally.

In the same boat.

Keep all my stuff in Outlook though. And since I tend to sync. my work stuff with my home stuff can't abondon Microsoft and burn my Microsoft CDs etc. just yet

Out of desperation, I decided to to take a look at google calander and mail (mail has contacts). It's actually quite good. Works well through the N810 browser. Though I had to turn off the on screen keyboard to allow the quick tooltop event creation. Using this, adding things in is really quick.

Looking on the web, it looks like there are some automatic google - outlook sync tools.

So I think I'm finally going to let go of my "don't trust sticking things on a free web service" paranoia and go Web 2.0.

Feel all hip now. Perhaps I should go all out and for latest most advanced technology and get an iPhone instead

Also, I think I read something on garage about a N810 google sync. Still WIP, but should work out nicely as I settle on a local PIM as well.

The only viable solution I found until now is to use GPE (http://gpe.linuxtogo.org/). It's still a bit buggy, but for my usage pattern it may be sufficient (time will tell). I also sync the GPE calendar with Google Calendar, in order to easily obtain ICS files to synchronize with other applications / people...

But it's true that the PIM scene on the N8x0 is still a bit lacking of good products

And I agree that relying on GarnetVM for doing PIM work is not really an ecstatic experience....

i just dont understand why they couldnt integrate a decent pim application on the tablets. you get the guys on this forum sayin "well its not a pda" well dammint , a heandheld device OF ANY SORT, especially one that has a menu item of CONTACTS... should have a good pim application somewhat like GPE that lets you enter a pic , multiple numbers and addresses as well as all the other extraneous info that GPE lets you do.

As an alternative to PIM, i printed my Outlook Contacts to a pdf file, then put the pdf on my N810. I can now open my Contacts pdf file and see all my contacts. It works very well. There is of course no "search" or "look up " capabilities, but I have the contacts easily accessible on the 810. It is better than nothing

Sorry to be dense, but when I go there on the 810 I do not see the applications.

I found a repository of python applications - a calendar, a to do list - yesterday. The to do list is great. Just downloaded the calendar. And I seem to recall a google sync app, too.
