MeeGo-Harmattan is just it's marketing name, a dumb one at that too.
I don't know why Nokia tried so hard to convince the LF that it should be able to use the name.
After the strategy change in Feb, they should've reverted to Maemo.
No wonder and all this while i was wondering why all the buzz about shortage of apps... but thankfully it's still Linux...

MeeGo is officially dead. Maemo - WHO (Elop!) knows?

Well... Meego has just come out in the open barely a few months back. I would not jump to conclusions about it just yet.

Mate you need to do much more reading... It is dead...
Meego.com will eventually be replaced by a Tizen.com/org community.
And real MeeGo's replacement (the N9's OS never was MeeGo) may still use some of it's resources.*

Unless Nokia decides to broker a deal with the LF to keep the name for itself.
And continue to operate the meego.com domain, & some of it's associated infrastructure.
But that would be totally dumb, they should just revert to maemo.org & it's associated infrastructure.

With the rumors of Meltemi (codename), it makes sense to revert to the Maemo brand.
Or to start a new brand entirely....

*real MeeGo nowadays = MeR + Nemo(or another UX layer e.g. Cordia or Plasma)
It's aiming to be mostly self sufficient, but will probably still use some of the meego/tizen infrastructure.

I disagree mate. Because while Nokia was among the companies supporting R&D on Meego, it is not the only one.

Little do these WP7 users know that their OS is lmited to a WVGA resolution for a reason, by policy, and that soon they will get their dual core faster processors, at which point I'm sure they will all change their tune. Android is just the OS where the phone is not limited, where the newer technology exists, the higher resolutions exist, Flash exists, it is just currently the OS doing more and therefore needing more.

If you want actual information about how Android allocates resources look here:

As for newer faster processors being less efficient because of clock speed, again, not as easy as that since they do not operate at a single constant clock speed for all tasks and if that wasn't complicated enough you also have to consider time. For example, is a process that takes 5 seconds to complete at a lower clock before going idle more efficient than spending 2 seconds at a higher clock before going idle. I recently read a paper which said performing quick bursts and becoming idle quicker is actually more efficient but I can't find a link.

Merry Christmas everyone.

so explain to me why the iphone 4s is stupidly ahead in benchmarks, while the only device that is close to it is the samsung galaxy tab running honeycomb, gingerbread and anything earlier isnt optimized to run dual cores well

no am not an apple fanboy.i dont own apple devices.

LOL disagree on what?? There is nothing to disagree on.
Nokia never transitioned to real MeeGo, they hardly did any work towards it.
Real MeeGo is now supplanted by MeR/Nemo etc.
MeeGo site infrastructure will gradually transition to Tizen.
Unless Nokia convinces the Linux Foundation to give the branding/name to them, & they continue Maemo/Meltemi development there.
But that makes little common sense, & even if it did, it's unlikely the LF would agree.

why is it stupid? crapple makes 1 phone other oems make dozens ...crapple uses a specialized chip specifically tailored to their needs other oems use off the shelf generic models. That is what happens when you take a ton of money and resources and focus them on a single product.

it was however the only handset manufacturer ...you will be able to get meego ...on a car radio or cable box whoopdedoo

my point is simple, android is not optimized for dual cores.
