I'm having issues with MMS also on T-Mobile USA. I too contacted customer service, to no avail. The N9 isn't in their database - the rep was confused, acted like he'd never heard of the N9. He even asked me if I was sure that was the name of my phone... please.

I guess we all just need to keep complaining to T-Mo.

So I found this

http://forum.xda-developers.com/arch.../t-549238.html

It does seem to be a t mobile server side issue, however in the link above, they have been able to change an andriod hand set mms user agent to spoof the sever and get full size mms.

So it seems that if someone could find a way change the user agent to a n900 it should work.

edit: I pulled this out of fmmswappush.py

{'User-Agent' : self.config.get_useragent(), 'x-wap-profile' : 'http://mms.frals.se/n900.rdf'}

I did a little more research there are several different mms architectures ...Im going to guess that if the n900 arch and the n9 are different this probably wont work. If this is infact the case you will have to find a phone that uses the same arch and is supported by t mobile US.

I just spoke with T-Mobile lvl2 tech support and he said the N9 should use the same settings as the rest of the Symbian N series. I'm not sure if this helps or is even correct info.

I told him what needed to be done but he refused to open up a support ticket as it is not a T-Mobile phone. He gave me a line that MMS pictures need to be under 1MB. I told him they were coming through closer to 10kb. He then tried to explain to me the difference between a megabyte and a kilobyte... *bangs head against wall*

Further digging revealed that the pictures get downscaled to 160x120 on unknown devices. This is so less capable phones still work with MMS. So our shiny new N9's are being treated as the lowest end phone ever manufactured to handle MMS content. Wow.

I filed a complaint with the FCC stating that T-Mobile is not providing me with the service I pay for and that they refuse to help me unless I buy and use one of their phones. Right or not, I hope that gets their attention. Power by numbers people.

You could see if this post helps out: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=81291

I don't have my N9 yet, so I haven't messed with any of this. Should get my 16GB Cyan one in the post tomorrow. Pretty pumped. Haven't figured out what to do with the SIM situation yet, since you can't order a micro from T-Mobile w/o adding a plan.

I have T-mobile USA and I got a microsim without problems. Most stores have them in stock. However, they will charge you $19.99
for it excluding tax.

I received the same response, they won't make any changes for phones that are not T-Mobile phones. It makes a little sense, what happens if it breaks a bunch of phones they don't have the ability to test.

Whaaa? I just finished chatting to a T-Mo rep online and I told them upfront I was getting an unlocked N9 that needed a micro-sim and she said, no problem, go to a store, $9.99. It even says $9.99 on their website. I'm not going to be happy having to buy one for $20 if the chat person didn't know crap :-/

I went to a retail location and got one free of charge....so I guess it depends on how kind the person you're going to is.

I'm kind of curious...would there be any way to have them set up the server end of things to tell it you're using an N8, or is that something that would get thrown off by the user agent on the N9? Truthfully, I'd be just as happy finding a hack solution for this as much as a true N9 solution for T-mo. Also, as previously mentioned, is there any way to change what the user agent identifies as on the N9 to specifically affect MMS (and not other services)?

I wonder what is in
Code:
/home/user/.mms/private
It's aegis protected. It's not the messages themselves, those are widely open in
Code:
/home/user/.mms/msg

Damn I hate aegis and I dont even own a N9 lol

The file to be modified is probably going to be protected and may even be embedded in the code of the program itself.

I found this guy last night, he claims on his site to have worked on the n9 mms app. I messaged him but he has not replied to me.
