I just want to say I feel this has a lot to do with apple's greed. If they would have made some reasonably priced products they would probably be ahead of MS or at least on par. They basically priced themselves right out of the market. It wasn't until about a year ago that they actually made a sub $1,000 notebook ..$999.99 lol.

Linux for years seemed to fight making a simple ux which the majority of cpu users need. In effect just handing the consumer market to MS.

I'm no fan of MS but I have to applaud bill gates for giving back a large portion of the truck loads of money he stole from competitors/consumers, which cant be said for jobs who died on a pile of cash and in his dying breath wanted to spend every last dime to crush android.

f7u12 MS, Apple and Android too

Every time some neophyte in the world say "ecosystem" outside of pure biological context, Microsoft is 0.01% closer to getting Nokia. Howg.

They said the end of the world will be on 21.12.2012. They ain't true.. (Unless Nokia will be sold to M$ on 21.12.2012). Selling Nokia to M$ will be the world's end!

Does anybody here still think that Nokia has realistic chance to become anything else except Microsoft OEM in the smartphone market? I just don't see it happening anymore. Everything I see read, see and hear says pretty much opposite.

That in mind, I think that it would actually be good move to sell the unit while its still worth something and while Microsoft still needs and is willing to pay for something like this.

I would assume that most of Nokia's patents are to do with physical phenomenon, eg RF communications etc. Such patents are relevant no matter the phone being smart or dumb. This is in contrast to Apple and MS who mostly patent broad concepts which in many cases are also obvious and/or unoriginal to boot.

No Nokia left in this scenario.
They could go back to making rubber boots - less competition probably.

IMO for years the Linux UI and UX has been superior to Windows. Linux's difficulties in increasing its market are a result of a combination of vicious circles:
  • hardware manufacturer's intransigence in writing drivers, or even in providing information to enable "volunteers" to write drivers
  • lack of games
  • the continuing practice of computer manufacturers bundling Windows whether one wants it or not

He is desperately trying to buy his way into heaven

which cant be said for jobs who died on a pile of cash and in his dying breath wanted to spend every last dime to crush android.
I guess there is no heaven for Jobs.
