The Following User Says Thank You to ianmcc For This Useful Post: | ||
I'll start at the beginning. 3 months ago, in September, I purchased a Nokia 770 from a man who had just purchased it from tigerdirect.com. He said it wasn't fast enough, and wanted the nokia 800. In any case, I now had a nokia 770, which had been purchased in the United States. He gave me all his invoices and receipts, just in case something should happen.
The problem lies in the fact that I live in Canada. Well, I guess that's a lie. The main problem is that my nokia 770 went through an odd reboot, and now suffers from the white screen of death. I phoned nokia, who told me that the 770 was still under warranty, however they said that since I had an "American Variant", Nokia Canada would not be able to fix it.
So now I'm stuck with a American( is there really a difference) Nokia 770, which has the white screen of death, and can't return it to Nokia Canada for repair, because it's not the Canadian nokia 770.
The alternative option Nokia Canada presented to me, was to ship the 770 to friends in the US, who would ship it to Nokia US, who would repair it, send it to my friends, who would send it to me. This is a pain, takes quite a while, and racks up quite a bit of shipping costs which I'd prefer not to spend.
So I guess the question I'm asking, is there anything I can do to persuade Nokia Canada to repair my 770?
