And just to clarify: it does not mean that Nokia is obliged to add software updates and capabilities for two years. Just that for the next two years, they have to acknowledge that the N9 exists and have parts to repair it.

Since the N9 is no longer manufactured and Nokia is not shipping them to the channel, I'll bet that in six months Nokia would "forget" they ever did an N9. Who's willing to bet that we'll get PR1.4 at the most, and updates will stop after that?

With their change of plan, granted, releasing the N9 at all was actually more than I expected. However, I do wish they would've released the N950 as it is most probably the one I would have picked out of the two.

I still get buzzed watching this leaked teaser for it:

What are you talking about?
The N9 is still manufactured, the N950 isn't, is that what you're referring to?
They did say several times last year that they'll support it till 2015.
And that there will be numerous major & minor updates for "years to come".
They weren't specific about how many major & minor updates.
But naturally it's too hard to predict that far ahead...
It was stated several times from staff members at various levels, inc Elop at one point.
CBF'd digging it all up, but my memory is fine....
Maybe a lot of it is in the epic "N9 it's finally here" thread...

You may have better information than me, but AFAIK, N9 stocks are disappearing from stores, and they have a hard time getting new

I think that the N9 or N950 have no chance of becoming the Nokia flagship that carries Admirial Elop. That has been reserved for Windows which may be a "titanic" mistake. The N9 and N950 have turned into little life rafts that were thrown off the "burning platform" to carry a few developers and real linux lovers. But supplies may be running short here. A major shipbuilder, Samsung, has provided some speedy jet boats via the Note and Galaxy II to play around with but one can still get a sinking feeling at times as android linux can be a letdown. Still others bravely cling on to the edge of a still bouyant N900, but their hands are getting cold and lifeless as they begin to loose grip and are swallowed into the vast cold sea of google devices.
