So I just got the N810 and I'm looking to replicate some of my desktop functionality through apps. So far I know I can look on the OS2008 User Site and install from there or directly from the N810's Application list, is there anywhere else I should check for OS2008 apps? Here are the main things I'm looking for -
  • Gmail
  • Instant Messenger with Aim support (or all in one messenger like Meebo)
  • Web Browser (is there a better one than the default?)

Gmail: Should be configurable via Modest and Claws-Mail.

IM: Use Pidgin or the default IM app with Jablet support.

Web Browser: The default is called MicroB. It is based on Mozilla. If something isn't working, please report the bug here:

You can also look for more apps (repositories) here:

Thanks for the info, I downloaded Pidgin and its great. It supports every IM protocol I've ever seen (and some that I haven't) and puts everything into one nice buddy list, good stuff! Though I'm jealous of the default IM applications ability to flash the LED on the side of the N810, is there anyway to make Pidgin do this upon recieving a new message?

I also installed Gmail Notifier and wish it could flash the LED to notify me of a new e-mails.

Could you explain Jablet? What do I have to do in order to make the default IM app work with more than just Google Talk?

What is a repository when it comes to OS2008? Is it similar to subscribing to a list of applications that you could potentially download?

Go into the Control Panel and look at Webmail Notifier. It only works with Gmail.

Sort of, but, yes, basically... You can view all installable apps in your Application Manager.
