The car charger that came with my i-blue 737 GPS has a mini-USB connector and outputs 5.0V / 850mA. Can this be used to safely charge my N800 in the car? Or am I making an incorrect assumption that the N800can be charged via the USB port? Thanks.

Yep.

Charging by the charging port. Data by the USB port. This is the way of the Nokia Internet Tablet.

Thanks for the info. That's disappointing particularly because I'm now at a loss as to what I can use for charging in the car. I've tried my Nokia cell phone charger (advertised as also being compatible with the Nokia N800) but it just shows the message "not charging". Why would this be and what do others use for 12V charging?
