i did crap in the bin folder (luckily saved a copy of the changed file) but unfortunatly the N900 reboots now immediately, when it has started up completely, so i am not able to restore the old file

so i ask you, is there a posiblity to press a shortcut while booting to get a shell or to change systemfiles over usb or get my data/contacts back bevore flashing the N900 or do you got any other idea?

call me stupid or anything else, but please help me because i need the N900 already tomorrow

If you have your n900 automatically connect to network you can try using ssh from your pc right when your n900 boots: "ssh user@xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx 'cp /backup/file /bin/'"

I've done it sometimes when I've messed up root files.

It would be extremely easy to fix, if You had backupmenu installed. Otherwise - considering, that You need it tomorrow - fastest way is reflashing.

if you just flash the fiasco image then you will not lose any of your data stored in emmc.

One possible way to fix it would be to boot for example Nemo from a memory card, mount the maemo rootfs and then replace the file.
