mplayer for n9? And i think we spoke about adding extra codecs to the stoke player..

@schturman i'm just talking to the guy complaining he can't play some files in his phone. And for the another one saying we need more players like in android, well, i'm served with what we had, stock, mplayer and vlc.

Can you mention what codecs are missing from stock player?

I only see this thread to be yet another thread among the dozens more complaining that the hardware is not able to play N8 high profile videos (as N9 chose different hardware which is not able to use DSP for anything else that base profile videos.).

So answer is that most likely there will never be any extra codecs to stock player, since nobody has ever said that codecs are missing from the player.

Afaik all 480p base profile and lower resolution videos are playing quite fine on the device. And if your dreaming of playing 1080p & 720p & 480p mid/ high profile videos downloaded from your favourite torrent site, then you are eating some mushrooms that you shouldn't. As that is as likely as that you would be able to run Symbian applications in Android.

No, i don't dreaming about 1080p lol.. Just about a simple videos taken by my old photo camera, that kmplayer/mplayer can play without any problem.. And i want this in the stock player..

Ok, audio codec, but still - it annoys the heck out of me that I can't find it for the N9: Musepack. It's part of the gstreamer-good codecs but not there on the N9 so I can't play half my music collection

can you point me where it is on gstreamer-good codecs, I always have seen it only in gstreamer-bad codecs?

and ofcourse you can always compile musepack yourself in sb.

I did a quicktest and compiled it with musepack support....
[sbox-maemo6-armv7: ~/gst-plugins-bad0.10-0.10.22] > find .|grep musepack.so
./ext/musepack/.libs/libgstmusepack.so
./debian/gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad-dbg/usr/lib/debug/usr/lib/gstreamer-0.10/libgstmusepack.so
./debian/gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad/usr/lib/gstreamer-0.10/libgstmusepack.so
./debian/tmp/usr/lib/gstreamer-0.10/libgstmusepack.so
But as quick google search werent giving me any test.mpc files, so I dropped my gloves and came to conclusing that its stupic codec that I don't need. And I moved to next coding project...

It's good because it gives pretty much lossless quality for slightly-above-mp3 bitrates. You won't find much to download, at least not with a google search. There is some stuff on the more audiophile front but these days it doesn't seem to be very interesting. If you want high quality you use FLAC and if you want patent-unencumbered you use ogg... So I get that it ain't terribly interesting

A apt-cache search didn't find anything - but I'll try gstreamer-bad (not sure where I got it's in 'good', I found that on a forum somewhere) and in decoders-support if I figure out what that is
