Is there a way to set a application as a default? I'm using orb and when i click on a video that I want to play it opens up the Media Player which doesnt support the videos but Mplayer does. Can I set that to pop open instead of the media player? or maybe If I want to use MediaBox can that be a default?

I don't think you can do it. I asked this question a few months ago and you couldn't, seems like you should, though.

On OS2008, Orb plays for me just great with no changes. It doesn't matter what the video on your computer is as it is reformatted and streamed in whatever Orb is set to. If you want, you could try changing your Orb settings to stream in Real. Doesn't solve you wish to choose a default program, but your videos may play.

mmmm..... this looks to me that MIME types must be related to this...as it is on any other linux box....

there is a mime package I have seen around, will check if that is what you need

Ya if you can that will be awesome, i'm going to test it out and install orb on my laptop to see if it makes any difference if it does work, might backup my desktop and reformat the thing...last resort

I reinstalled orb nokia on my desktop and its set to real. I'm running divx video only which is the format, for some reason doesnt seem like orb transcodes divx but then again it works sometimes, so who knows....I'll await a reply from you febb

thanks

There must be an file association table for maemo - and also an app which can access it and change the file types and the apps which get launched.

Maybe I just dont know of it. Orb is suppose to convert the files to what you want to have it in. I'm trying to use a 23 free day converter from divx to mpg to see if that will make any difference at all

Update: Nope no difference, I guess i wont bother to try anymore because i did a google search and some people are having problems as well, I doubt it would make any difference to format the desktop
