@JollaMobile will you guys be continuing along a similar stack to Nokia's Harmattan, or can we expect a Mer based MeeGo like platform?

1h Jolla ‏@JollaMobile
@ThomasSwindell Good question, thanks. Latter. ‪#merproject‬ rocks!

what makes you think nokia is not involved into the project ? i am sure they have a spinoff program that could benefit to both side ?

I'd be suprised that nokia is not anymore implied technically and financially related projects such as qt or linux ...

btw if nokia becomes an ODM (this is what ms wants them to be right?) then they can provide any devices for any platform integrators ... this is making sense ... else who will produce those items ? probaly an asian company such as htc ? or other vendors from china ?

So far I am just speculating ...

If this involves using qt as one main building block, I may even donate. If not, good luck and goodbye.

I swear I had a similar idea a few months ago..it makes great sense for Nokia to set up another house for continuing MeeGo's legacy...

Only issue is..will Jolla have hardware support from Nokia in any way? Or do they have substantial experience in sourcing good hardware? Cause the hardware is truly integral to the MeeGo experience...

The initial impression here is that this could very well be a covert move by Nokia (or someone in Nokia) to make good on 'Plan B'

Merproject and Qt are a key building block.

Are You kidding? Nokia just fired those people. I'm glad that they've formed something like that, instead of moving into android development. I don't expect any charity from Nokia here, lol - now they're competitors.

To make this simple for everyone. They will not make any updates for N9 as it's a Nokia product but they will:

Create MeeGo based devices!!!

What I'm suggesting is that it's a planned move by Nokia. Certainly, a lot of companies out there would want to snap up the MeeGo team.. so it's suspicious that they go for their own outfit with dubious profit-making capability rather than join some big corporation..

Unless I see Nokia taking action against these guys..I'm gonna assume that there's something fishy..
