Yay

Now my multiboot equipped device has a shell, too.
Big thanks to you two.

But another SOLVED problem hit me:
I am not able to get the blue arrow keys working (mainly '/' needed). Reaction is quite strange, for most keys just nothing happens, normal character appears. But for a few just nothing appears and for example for '#' and '*' it behaves as ctrl-m.
Do you have another hint how to enable full keyboard?

I have german layout and of course only english one would be available, thats fine to me.

SOLVED
Hint was already given by reinob: look in recovery.sh
pali provided a kmap, which needs to be loaded via loadkmap (either given by pali or by bb-power).

The USB mass storage mode leads to a reboot after about 20 seconds. Another phone (which also includes u-boot as a difference) I tried does not suffer from this issue. They both have KP50 and bootmenu 1.11 installed.

Any idea what could be the cause of this reboot? I could install backupmenu as an alternative for the USB mass storage, but I prefer to use the Recovery Console.

Edit: no short term responses, so I used backupmenu instead in a succesfull way to achive my goal.

Ade, press some key to stop auto boot timer and do not start anything. Wait if reboot is occured too.

If yes, problem is with watchdogs program (which reseting internal watchdog to prevent reboot device). If no, then problem is somewhere in kernel (in usb drivers)...

First I need to know this to resolve your problem.

Pali,

Just realized I am not facing a recovery console issue, but a bootmenu issue. I will put my findings there.

I found big problem in /usr/sbin/loadkmap which is part of recovery console and it load n900's english keyboard layout. It load it for bad virtual terminal, so fn keys not working. I will push new version of recovery console to extras-devel which fix this problem.

Alternatively it's also included in busybox-power.

pali
fn keys = blue arrow keys ?

If so, my version of loadkmap (extracted from package) was working fine. I had to press simultaneously the keys, but this is more or less normal behaviour, right?

But what about extra symbols? (blue arrow + Sym)
Is there possibility to use these too?

Or even more important:
ESC sequence in shell (editing in vi is hard to do without ESC)

yes, with fn keys I mean blue keys. now you can press keys like * / & numbers...

also:
Fn + left arrow is key '<'
Fn + right arrow is key '>'
Fn + up = tilde '~'
Fn + down = pipe '|'

popup menu Fn+Ctrl like in XTerm for symbol table is not possible in this low level framebuffer console output.

And for ESC in vim you can press Ctrl+C

Djakujeme.
I once may hit it accidentally (as I could leave vi once), but could not get it again. Now it is really safe to play with system files.

Thanks again.

Other CTRL shortcuts:
CTRL + i Tab
CTRL + m Return
