I'm new to this forum. I searched for an answer to this question but couldn't find it.

I have a collection of PDF eBooks on game development, 3D graphics programming, etc. These files are rather large (10-30MB), have lots of diagrams and pictures (they're not scans BTW) and rather complex layouts (code snippets have different fonts and indentation, etc).

I would like to know if the N800 would be able to render such PDF files:
1)accurately (the layout won't get messed up too much)
2)fast (meaning, I won't be waiting 30+ secs. to turn the page or scroll)

I don't care which PDF reader software package as long as it can do it according to my requirements.

I am aware that most PDF files are formatted for a letter- or A4-sized page. I don't care if I have to do a little bit of horizontal scrolling as long as it is fast and accurate.

I am also aware of all the other functionality of the N800, and know that its intended purpose is not to be a PDF eReader, but this for me is the selling point.

Thanks! I appreciate your help.

I have a N810 with the newest OS (50-2) and it has the same processor as the N800. I can tell you that I've been reading a 1200 page/35 MB/full color Biochemistry text book with tons of intricate diagrams, daily while simultaneously listening to music in the background. It definately handles the pages and formatting well even zoomed. The builtin reader takes ~5 seconds to load a page.

I've been very, very impressed with the pdf ability of this device. My previous device, a Palm TX, couldn't even open the document at all let alone load pages with images quickly and accurately.

An interesting use of pdf on the n800/n810 is Xournal which allows you to scribble/type notes in a pdf file. You could also try pdftohtml on a linux pc to convert pdf to HTML. That way the text is reflown to page width.
