Is it just me or gmail shows in its native Android like mobile optimised interface on the N9's inbuilt browser for all?

That's the iPhone interface, your browser was probably detected as Webkit running on iOS.

use n9qtweak to change your user agent to iOS or Android to see the nicer versions of webpage. Or you can get it from the source by searching in the forum for 'Easiest way to Change User Agent in Stock Browser'

okay... Thats strange... Can you try this and see if this works?

got to this following Jalysts link to the Jolla questionaire on google docs:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1...ilebasic?pli=1

where i was surprised to see the polished UX... To get to the gmail variant, all i had to do was select gmail from there... I think it just continued with the polished version...

heres the direct link to polished gmail:
https://mail.google.com/mail/x/mog-/...e&zyp=l&shva=1

I guess all you need to do is add this to your home screen

interestingly, it also works perfectly on opera and Firefox with absolutely no user agent mods...

I think it only redirects you to the ugly interface if you enter just gmail.com, but doesnt keep checking for the user agent everytime the page loads from there...

Probably jalyst was using a User agent mod when he copied the link... Luckily yay!

I got this the first time I visited google forums. From there when I clicked on News, Gmail, etc. in the header I get the iphone interface.

You don't have to make any useragent mods. Here is the url - http://www.google.com/news/i?hl=en&source=mog&gl=us

From here, you could navigate to "more" on the header to find other google services with similar interface though google voice still renders in the non-iphone interface.

I guess google does some js based checks whether the browser will support the UI. If so, then it renders otherwise it renders the default UI for the useragent.
