Looks like the slow and steady downward slide of the price for the N810 is ongoing. Free shipping.

Their deals often go away mid-day so you might want to jump on this one.

Nokia N810 for $399 with free shipping.

Note that:

1) Item is not in stock.

2) Before buying from any Internet dealer, I recommend checking them out in the Store Ratings area of both Bizrate.com and ResellerRatings.com. Some sellers have a reputation for delayed shipping. Buying out of stock from these sellers is asking for trouble.

buy.com is quite reliable. I have bought many things from them over the last 4 years or so and never had any problems.

I have bought from them also, and haven't had much trouble.

But in my experience, anyone with a resellerratings or bizrate rating lower than the high nineties has a significant chance of turning into a problem order. Before ordering from that kind of merchant, I always call them to verify that the product is in stock and ask when it will ship.

That doesn't mean I haven't been stung. But it's usually been when I've disregarded warning signals and charged ahead anyway. Warning signals like "In Stock Soon: Usually Ships in 3 to 5 business days" on the buy.com site.

There are some real bargains out there. And sometimes you just get what you pay for. Shop smart.

Chime in here too about buy.com. I've never had any problems with them and try to order from them over amazon, but only because I get 3x amex rewards points from buy.com - amazon isn't a member

Edit: Regarding the N810. Does anyone else have that sinking feeling that the N9x0 is just around the corner? Also the N810 was featured on the Today Show Yesterday (Wednesday) and the tech guy said "Coming this november".

WTH? November? Granted my reception was breaking up (OTA HDTV) but I hope to God that he was holding a beta wimax N810 (I couldn't make out the whole review).

Something to keep in mind about buy.com --

1) You can only return stuff within 14 days of buying (not receiving) it. So, if N810 takes a week to arrive, you only have a week to decide whether to keep or not.

2) They charge 15% restocking fee on non-defective items.

Other places have much better return policies, even if they charge a little more.

The dropping prices do make one wonder if there is an updated version about to jump out with Wimax. Then the non wimax version will take a lower price point, and that is perhaps what is happening here.
