Only first time, if it doesn't show for second time, you are good to go :P
Try to reboot as well. It started to work for me, out of sudden at some point :P

My 2 cents:
Push notifications can also bee blocked by your carrier. I had to ask politely so mine would enable them. Keep that in mind.

When those were blocked, it was on all apps with this feature, wasn't it? I mean twitter and fb use it too, don't they? So if he doesn't have any of those it's probably it, otherwise it's something else.

It won't show again, if you have actually connected to n9-apps.com (entered the token there). Also, you will get item in your feeds that says you are connected, when successful.

Also, push notifications won't work in China, until the push service is approved there. I don't know if anyone is from China here.

Any plans for improvements/updates to this?

Doesn't seem to work for me. Push is enabled.
