Hm, technically you could, but you have to convert the data. Now, interestingly enough i never found that option on sportstracker website. I guess i can try to download my data, look at it and see how to convert it

The distance measured by the app is very accurate and consistent. If I double back on a route I get exactly the same measurement to and fro. Well done, Paolo. I've made a small donation at your website.
Thanks a lot yes, in this version i finally made use of the gps filter on/off toggle, and, maybe surprisingly, it doesnt turn off gps filtering completely, but when you set it off ,it rather filter less.
Before you guys get upset, i want to say that in this version, meeTrainer logs also raw gps data (maybe you noticed in the summary/graphs), so at all time you will have gps data filtered and raw .
But yes, i should find a better way to let the user choose the gps filtering method, like a combobox or something.

About precision, im happy that it works well for you too
Before releasing i did some testing , and i tried to check the exact same paths with meeTrainer and with google maps.
It seems that meeTrainer still produce slightly longer distances than google maps, even with filtering, but not by much and significantly less than without using filtering.
I am now looking into what more advanced method to use for improving this even more

@paoletto: Yes, i think Kein means, that after a successful fix of the GPS signal a button should appear or turn green (in case he has his status window hidden).

I made a tour this morning and as you can see from the following image, the N9 internal GPS gives poor results : the blue track is from the N9, the green one is from a HTC Desire Z. Well, it's not always that bad, but it can be.

Anyway, the filtering is useful!

Do you mean like a sign that the gps found the signal and started tracking? (in case you choose to hide the status bar, coz in that case you'd have the sign there)

If thats what you mean, i guess i could do something like that (just like for the HRM), yeah. Thanks this is a good idea
Yes, I mean an indication that the gps has found its signal. I know there is a gps icon on the status bar which will blink slowly when looking for signal but it is tiny and not easily seen on a dim screen plus you have to wait for it to blink or not. I thought the blank space from removing the gps switch can be used for a gps indicator like an icon which will appear or turn green when it has the signal and disappear or grey out when it lost the signal.

Hi Jordi, is the blue track from N9 acquired using meeTrainer & filtered data? if so, i guess i could try a little harder to remove outliers.
By the way, is that from a walk, a jog, bike tour or what?

edit: if that was acquired with meeTrainer, would you mind sharing the csv with me? it would be a good example for trying out stuff

Hi, yes i think it's a good idea. I think i will add it, maybe not in the blank space, but already in the icons that are already there. I will think a little about it and see what's the best approach

Hi Paoletto, the above track is from a bike tour and yes, the track is acquired using Meetrainer with filtered data.

I can send you some tracks, sometimes I let run MeeTrainer with filtered data along with another app called Poluilla, which also record tracks but without filtering, it seems.

I send you a PM.

Could there have been a loss of gps signal resulting in the sharp spike in the map?

Hmm, today, i used meeTrainer and Endomondo (on my old N79) simultaneously. MeeTrainer reported, that i went 8.39 km whereas endomondo "said" that the distance was 8,83 km. I think, it's a good and sufficient result and pretty similar.

But i think, that i discovered a bug. I was doing another hike today and after a while, i paused meeTrainer, because we went to a hut to eat something. After that, i resumed the tracking. At the end of the route, the app displayed the total walked time correctly. But when i opened up the Workout section, the duration shown was only the time (in my case half an hour) i walked AFTER i resumed the tracking. Maybe the app uses the wrong variable to save the time in the Workout section?!
Can you reproduce this or confirm it ?

Cheers
