Hello,

I'm glad to announce some utility which allows you to find your N900 in darkness Many times I faced issue, when I left my phone somewhere in my room (desk, table, bed) and I was not able to determine its location. Turning on light was not solution, especially in middle of night. So I decided to write my first app, which checks in five minute interval whether phone is locked, "darkened" and not in pocket, then it starts LED using special energy friendly pattern (slow, dark glowing in white). Now device is fairly discoverable
Firstly I thought about enabling standard DeviceOn pattern with white glowing, but downside was too bright light (not energy efficient) and unnecesary whole day activity(again energy drainage). My script lights LED only when it is needed. Of course priority of this pattern is lower than IM, SMS or call so it will not collide with any of these events.
Usage study indicated that one min interval is not needed, you "forgot" where device was left after a longer time than one minute. I think five is minimum.

Update
-made daemon instead of alarmd event
-five minute interval instead of one

Main functions:
-five minute interval checking of device state
-involved: lock state, proximity sensor, light sensor

To-do:
- configuration panel to set check interval for your needs

Hope you find it useful!

Yeah, great app, fast update too!

I'm forever looking for my N9, but I always leave it face-down (to preserve screen, conserve battery) so I guess I'm stuck with rooting for the bugger now and again
