I admit it, I am still a complete noob....but still trying to get better! This thread states that GPE works with 2008. Well, I installed GPE calendar and was told that I am missing libsoup files. Believe me I have searched, but guess I am a bad searcher
I still cannot solve this. What do I do next....how do I find and install the missing files?? My head hurts from bumping it against the wall. I am certain I am overlooking something simple!!!!

Go to this web site that has the repositories:
http://www.gronmayer.com/it/

Select OS2008 and search for libsoup and you will be pointed to the repository to add.

The actual repository is "maemo-hackers". Just click on the green arrow to add the repository and then go ahead and install the GPE calendar.

I'm a new N800 user too and I love this thing.

If you use this repo:

You will get GPE for N800 that needs no additional files.

Finally Success. I now have GPE up and running. It is so nice to find a site such as Internet Tablet Talk Forums where the people willing offer help to all who ask !! My "psychic abilities" foretell that I will probably have lots more questions, after doing a proper search, of course
