If it doesn't, it's dead, or you may want to investigate whether all the connectors are still where they're supposed to be. The N9 does not make a rattling sound when you shake it up.
Good instructions.

My concern is the integrity of a lithium battery after a fall and sudden stop like that one.

I have flown electric RC airplanes since the 1980s and lithium batteries are notorious for not handling hard landings well. The battery may be OK but I wouldn't count on it, and I wouldn't feel comfortable recharging it as it may be damaged internally.

The phone might be good for a "part out" or maybe you could replace the screen and battery if the other internals are intact.

Neat story, thanks for sharing.

Well that sucks.

I had the bad luck of getting mine thrown screen first into a rock.
Not near the fall yours took, though.

Got a new screen module off eBay, and it works great.

See the attachment for something I think might come in handy.

EDIT: Attachment too large to be attached.
Link instead: http://munservers.com/Nokia N9 RM-69...ual L12 v5.pdf

EDIT2: And mine was severely less damaged.

I think this is a quite valid point.
If the device seems still to work I would also recommend 1) to be careful while recharging the battery and 2) to replace the battery anyway as soon as possible.

So i'm hesitant to give my N9 to Palco here in the U.S.
If your N9 was originally sold in Europe, then Nokia's Europe-wide warranty applies, but unfortunately it only covers manufacturing defects, not accidents.

Other N9 owners have reported that Nokia UK are refusing to repair accidental screen damage. Also, Nokia UK recently removed their online warranty checker, meaning you have to phone or email them to arrange a repair - clearly they're trying to make it more difficult for people to get their phones repaired. If you're travelling, you could always try getting it repaired in a different European country - they might be a bit more accommodating.

Sorry for the bad news.

Oddly, that sounds like he may have to at least travel to some non-UK country in Europe. Would that be considered the Underworld?

hahaha I went to Romania to get it fixed awhile back and they wanted to charge me 200$ to fix the screen, which had a little crack.. nothing special.. so for the battery I might have to go even Deeper than Romania
