so many great options but we (mortals) can't have a taste.
bad times to be a "niche mobile OS" entusiast : (
And there are also Mer, Nemo, Plasma Active, Cordia, SHR, Qt Moko & company doing their things in the open and looking for contributors.

Some of them also support running in a VM, so not having a compatible device is not a total blocker.

" Finnish MeeGo developers to demonstrate user interface, share SDK at start-up event; commercial launch planned for spring 2013."

What does this mean. Sailfish or the first mobile device hits the markets?

They will just show off their OS UI, the phone will be announced at the end of the year so I'm quite sure that the first phone will come from Jolla and then in spring 2013 they will begin to license the "Sailfish" OS to other EOM's

Yes, Tizen 1.0 exists as an Operating system.

The thing is he haven't seen it on a device in the market nor do we have info about when it will exist.

Tizen devices were supposed to come out on Q4 2012 but Samsung recently announced that they will focus on Android and Win Phail 8 for now and that Tizen devices will arrive in early 2013

So it will be jolla vs tizen early 2013. Would be better if they worked together and release a common device capable of running both OS.

Real cause - Because Samsung doesn't care much about jolla and meego or salifish

Personal Opinion - Because the idea of tizen sucks and also done before (WebOS).

As a OEM a corporation cares only for what makes it $$$...

Android is bringing in the big bucks now so why go for Tizen etc...Spend time developing it then spend more time producing devices and lastly spend time marketing something that won't even touch Andrdoid's sales...An all-round loss...

When Android growth for Samsung starts to slow, they'll look into some alternatives or jump on whichever bandwagon is the hottest...

After all, Samsung is a OEM instead of a software Company...
