As the title suggests, I would be very thankful if you guys could let me know what is the best solution for streaming content from my win7 laptop to my N900 and/or HP Touchpad as well.

I would even be happy for the best solution for just the N900 alone.

> I'm ok over streaming over local network (i.e. laptop and n900 are on same network as I am sure that would be better quality than streaming over the internet.

So far I have heard of Orb streamer (and used it with my N95 ages ago) and Knots (dont have much knowledge).

Reason for this post is that I would like the latest/best working solution these days.

Much thanks in advance.

Hi there fellow TP owner

For the touchpad, you can stream media with kalemsoft

There is also an excellent low latency desktop streamer called Splashtop too (both found in the app catalogue).

The n900s media player should be able to stream music that you have in your shared folder on your PC by opening File Manager (n900)

Awesome. Love the Touchpad!

In fact, I just got splashtop working. It is a pretty good solution I have to admit. I also am going to try out Kalemsoft because it sounds like pure media streaming.

If I wanted to get video streaming from my PC to N900, is Orb the way to go? Any other alternatives/solutions I should know about?

Once again, thank you a LOT! Love the sinister similarities of the N900 and the touchpad; both run on linux kernels and both are 'zombie devices'. Dead yet alive.

I personally use PS3 Media Server (it's a general purpose DLNA server, don't worry) for DLNA streaming because it's just so damned easy to write up new configs for different devices.

The built in WMP DLNA server in Windows only transcodes the handful of formats it natively supports (no CCCP/K-Lite integration). Meaning that MKVs flat out just do not work.

Thanks Hurrian! Will look into it but at the moment, in a state of Mind=Blown.

Since I was mucking around on youtube, looking at people showing kinda pointless proof of concepts of 'gaming' through splashtop, a few comments caught my eye and further digging revealed 'Kainy'.

This oddly named contraption is basically

Splashtop + configurable, customizable ON SCREEN controls for games. = full PC gaming on portable devices (kind of like Onlive, only cheap and actually works on everything)

Behold....

Would love it if the awesome community here could conjure up something for n900, n9, upcoming jolla phone.

Btw, back on topic, I seem to like PS3 Media Server, are there any specific workarounds I need to have to get it to work or is it relatively straightforward?

Thanks once again.

As a work around for Kainy, you could use NITDroid and CM9 for the time being?

And thanks!vI have never heard of this until now
