Good point, qwazix! I put the tests together on a page for comparision. (for what it's worth, I don't like the quality of either yet. still like the Nokia E90's camera much better. I started shooting film again after using E90 and seeing what might be possible. No so with N9)

In the mean time, I've discovered something else strange after reading about another thread's camera test done in a totally dark room: Both of them are noisy, but one of them has a particularly dark filled in circle in the center of the screen. The other is just all noisy filling the rectangular screen. ??

@LordSnick, could you clarify the part about the big lens? I'm assuming the right one has a larger lens than the left. Do you mean you have the one on the right? Thanks!

All N9's are RM-696. N950 is RM-680.

Though as you have seen there are different (board?) revision numbers. It would be interesting to know how many revisions exist and moreso what are the actual differences between them.

I've seen N9s with visually different components (mainly screens, but now camera lens too) that share the same revision number, so I'm guessing that "Hardware revision:" only means the revision number of a RM-696 board itself.

Lens is interesting as they advertise it as Carl Zeiss lens so it (presumably) can't be produced by a different subcontractor. Maybe Zeiss supplied another lens with close enough specs somewhere during the N9 production.

Serial numbers might be useful in figuring that out.

Black N9 16Gb 1603 left one, but leds are very good visible and I do have a circle in the center. But I tryed to check this circle again and now I can't see it.

My previous, black N9, has left lenses and new white has the right. A little table:
Black 16GB: | | | White 64GB:
rev. 1603 | | | rev. 1601
Made in Finland | | | Made in China
A little darker but less noisy photos | | | Everything in photos is a little more visible but more noisy
A bit more focused photos | | | a bit less focused photos

I will try to update this with like, difference between led light strength, focus time and things like that.

So it seems like the smaller lens actually performs slightly better. Are all larger lens variants made in China? I've seen only small lenses in N9s assembled in Finland.

Just bought a second N9 for cheap. Both are made in china and both have the lens on the right. However, what amazes me is how much greener the screen is on the second one that I bought. The first one there is no green tint, just like regular RGB display. I've seen couple more and they have all had the green tint. Surprising...
