post an example picture.

whilst the version *[of liqmap] on repositories is a bit rough around the edges (major improvements to the file select have been made since), it opens and panzooms practically everything i can throw at it.
show me the image, lets see

*oops i accidentally a whole sentence.

just tested on 4000*2400 image I have here ( http://liqbase.net/liq.20090710_002210.lib.holymoly.png )
and i notice my image select dialog does not show the image (because the thumbnail is missing..)
but if i force the image filename in, it pans and zooms just like any other image

lcuk, I do not know the direct links for the large images so I had to refind them on the Internet. I cannot say for sure if these are the ones I have stored offline nor am I prepared to freeze my phone for 10 mnutes while it attempts to load but try these:

http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?im...Osir4Qa5_uylCg

http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?im...OpTG4gbcrqijCg

If you manage to save them, open them with the default application at first. They do load but you cannot zoom in much/if at all.

I wish there was a way to set it to do a slide show. With TV out that would be nice.

Edit: Never mind. I figured it out. (Silly me I was looking for an option on the menu.)

first one won't load.

liqbase has no .gif image loader at the moment.
the second was png and it loaded without a bother.
took it 30seconds, but it was ok

as I said, it panned zoomed without issue like the underground map from original liqbase

as i say, principle issue is the file select doesn't include it (cos of missing thumbnail)

So what is liqbase? I just install it and it will allow me to zoom into my png format maps?

liqmap is designed to pan/zoom the most recently selected image, there is an early version on one of the maemo repositories.

its a widget/app that I use all the time on my playground, but it runs as a standalone app.

the one currently on the repositories has a file select dialog that tries to generate its own thumbnails in the image select and is suboptimal unless the cache has been built.

i have remade the file select dialog recently and it uses the system thumbnails now and looks a little cleaner and certainly cleaner for first run.
the library it sits on (liqbase) is just being optified also and are due v soon.

Do you suggest I use the old version or wait for this newer one due out soon?

I know this post is too old , but I found it by accident , and I loved to say that the problem can be solving now , any one want to view images with larg resultation and zoom in and out ,, just use the default viewer on Debian Lxde, I could view images with 10000 pxls and could zoom in and out with no problems , only little slowness with huge images ,
If u don't have Debian in your N900, then u should install it because u will gain many many useful and powerfull things that will make N900 rocks all other tablets .
