OK. Apparently the stock kernel doesn't have the cfg80211 module (maybe it's built-in, or maybe it's just not used, I don't know).

One way to get this to work would be to install kernel-power, but the obvious question is first: why do you need to run "ifconfig wlan0 up". Is your WLAN not working?

i want to use wifi on my phone....my phone does not detect the available wi-fi connections...i dont know the reason behind this....
jst wanted somebody to help...

Wifi should work in any case (stock or power kernel), and you definitely don't need to do anything with ifconfig.

I guess it's time for a reflash (if in doubt, complete reflash). You haven't played with Nitdroid lately, or?

Wasn't wifi-switcher deemed broken/unstable a while ago?

I would reflash the kernel.

i am ready to do anything that you will suggest me to do....

let me tell you one thing nearly 6 months ago i sent my phone to nokia care center to reinstall the maemo in it....when i got my phone back everything was deleted from it...i dont know whether they refleshed hi aur what so ever they did....

you please provide me with the solution as what should i do next...
if after reflashing i will be able to use wifi then i am ready to do that thing as well...

Yes, you will be able to use wifi after reflash for sure IF its not a hatdware fault. I think you will be fine. Good luck !

If it is not a hardware fault then yes.
You have no option other then a full reflash to find out.
