Hi all. It seems to me that the gpe calendar alarm function
is not working properly.

1. If I set an alarm in the calendar and then exit the
calendar, there is no alarm. Shouldn't the calendar set
the system to generate an alarm whether the calendar
is running or not (so that, at the time the alarm goes
off and the calendar comes up on the desktop).

2. If I set an alarm and turn off the machine, the alarm
fails to wake the machine (the standard clock alarms
work even if the tablet is off). Shouldn't the calendar
set the alarm function so that it turns on the tablet
and gives the alarm (and starts the calendar app) at
the proper time?

Anyway, does anybody know of an alarm clock app that
lets you set multiple alarms (with various repeats) so
that you can turn off the alarm for particular occasions
without deleting the alarm altogether.

I mean, I want to have an alarm set to a certain time with
a checkbox beside it so the alarm can be activated or not.
So I don't need to re-enter the info just to re-engage this
alarm.

Hope that's clear. I wonder if there is any such app? TIA,

I believe Gene Cash's PIM suite will do what you want.
It's basic Palm functionality.
Unfortunately, his stuff is OS2007 only,
and, after two painful attempts,
he's not going to update it at this point.

Nokia is careful to say that the device doesn't have PDA functions.

I'm hoping that the Kontact suite in KDE will do it.
That's the main reason I'm in the middle of installing it.
It's a lot to go through to emulate a $100 Palm, though.

GPE's alarms will work if you minimize the calendar,
which you'll notice is what actually happens when you click
the "close me" X in the corner.
It won't wake the machine up, though.
I think there's no real reason to ever turn it off.
