I believe that Microsoft doesn't include the required services in XP Home. I could be wrong however...

I just came across this in another post on this site.

http://www.geekport.com/2007/08/15/e...op-in-xp-home/

I haven't tried it yet but apparently you can get redesktop on XP Home. Doesn't look easy though.

im trying something out that this "Mike" guy suggests

I just figured out how to FIX the DISCONNECT issue.
i spent 2 hrs playing but he it is.
I did everything like this post said then did this

Downloadedand installed devcon.exe from Microsoft. Its a command line device manager tool.

Then Run devcon.exe which will extract it.

Open a cmd prompt
Navigate to the i386 folder devcon made.
Type
devcon.exe -r install %windir%\inf\machine.inf root\rdpdr
<---

after that i restarted then ran the batch file from before. then restarted again. FIXED

And it went right in to my desktop through Remote desktop

Please respond to let me know if it worked.

Mike
ive gotten past the point where rdesktop just freezes at the main screen to where it looks like it wants to load but quickly exits out

im trying out what he's saying but im stuck at the part highlighted in bold and denoted by the smiley

here's a screenshot of what's coming up

ive actually been able to have my windows recognized as professional edition under the systems settings in the control panel and port 3389 into listening state

maybe its time to grab a beer

52.8 hours? Depending on what you are trying to accomplish, wouldn't it just be easier to setup a VNC server with tunneling through a SSH connection?

nah, it was a joke...its no where near 52.8 hours

i believe i set up a VNC server (through tight VNC?)

im still trying to learn linux and utilizing the n810 to the fullest in general...basically its through trial and error and the search feature

but how do you access it using SSH

i probably could eventually figure it out (like everything else ive done so far), but this might save me some time

Its nice work. Rdesktop is great and you really appreciate it in the n*** series. However now your playing with it if you find a keystroke to get the widows start button to work do share!

I run with my task bar auto minimised to get the best real estate I can and this is an issue for rdesktop. The only real issue. Right click can be got withthe menu button which is nice.

Having a static IP address is the best!

Enjoy your fun.
