After installing the last update via apt-get
i got my n900 restarting automatically every 5 minutes
i can't even use it
so i am going to reflash after 6 hours from now to read your replies

I reported earlier a strange behaviour of my N900 following a certain update. I acted as if the slider switch operated on its own randomly: BackupMenu restarting spontaneously, display switching on and off randomly, even when the phone was left on the desk with no one touching it for hours... You can imagine the mess this caused with the phone in the pocket I was already starting to suspect a hardware problem and resigned to having to kiss my beloved N900 good buy when...
...I found there was an unofficial Thumb update yesterday (only available though apt-get, no HAM notification) and that fixed it! My phone behaves again!
