When you say wifi firmware, you mean stuff above the driver, right? Because we have Kalle Valo's stlc45xx project for a wifi driver...

Talking about Kalle Valo, you all probably know, but I just want to mention that he's trying to get N8x0 support into the mainline kernels.

It's the code that runs on the WLAN CPU (I think prism45 contains an ARM inside?) itself.

BTW things seem better than I thought on that front. Apparently binary firmware can be obtained fron non-Nokia sources, and there is a project underway to create a Free version.

But note that the stlc45xx project is starting to becoming obsolete now. Not a bad thing - see https://garage.maemo.org/pipermail/s...il/000157.html, and the p54 page.

Kalle Valo is my hero :-)

None of them work with n8x0 chip.

Wow. Didn't know about that. Looks interesting, even though they target pci/usb devices.

Ah, I assumed the "SPI / stlc4560" ones would be compatible :-( Any idea what the problem is?

Does anyone have the sources from the first post of this thread? The links in the first post are no longer valid (they still point to the OP's git repo thing, but he no longer has, say, his open recode of text2screen on there). I realize this thread is for the N800, and my activity is all N900 related, but I imagine text2screen is approximately the same in both devices, but would be useful to learn from either way. (Unless there's other open recodes/replacements of text2screen available by now, in which case if anyone points me there that would be awesome.)

His text2screen should still be around in the MeeGo.com hw adaptation somewhere, or in MOSLO.
