hey thanks for your reply, i have the correct because i can receive mms so that can't be the issue
The previous poster gave you the correct advice. Open up settings in fMMS (so you can immediately fill them in), and call your provider to ask for the settings data.

okay that seemed to fix it

and in my defence, the guide says to disable the repositories with a red sign
i thought the "original" repositories were fixed (there was no red signs) so therefore i did not disable them.

you did not disable your previous repositories (check the first post of the above thread), since the n900 is trying to get the program from http://repository...

And one more thing, be careful with extras-devel (as in development), there are programs there that can cause a lot of trouble if you are a newbie.
