Hello all,
This is just a follow-up post to the one I made regarding the same subject over on the PlecoDict boards (www.pleco.com). I'm moving to Taiwan in February and needed a Chinese-English Dictionary. I looked at digitals, saw that Pleco made software for Palm and PocketPC's (both of which get mediocre reviews), found the light that is the N800, installed GarnetVM, installed PlecoDict on OS2008 (steps and pics @ http://www.plecoforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1141) and reveled in the sweet smell of victory.

This is just a post to let anyone else out there who is looking for the same thing I was that there is a working solution. Happy Surfing

Sdict viewer runs natively on Maemo and has many different language dictionaries. I use it for eng-jap / jap-eng.

Bad thing about it, is that you have to install Maemo CJK for Chinese Japanese and Korean input/support. Installing CJK will remove your Maemo keyboard and you'll have to load SCIM input and the matchbox keyboard which sucks horribly.

You know what, now that I think about it, I might install GarnetVM and Pleco.

lol nevermind.

I just went to DL the GarnetVM and saw the interface again for the first time in months and got a little sick to my stomach. I don't think I want that on my tablet. For years I was the biggest Handspring/Palm fanatic... Now, I can't even look at the UI without thinking CRASH CRASH CRASH!!!

Is there a way to get the Maemo keyboard back after sampling and spittingout the CJK?

Right now I've got a keyboard with no graphics for the buttons on the left (the one that hides the keyboard), and it is very unruly. It keeps jumping up when I don't want it.

Next Q is there a way to tell the key board to chill. I don't want it at all when I'm using my Stowaway BT keyboard.

Don't know about the 2nd Q, but to get virtual keyboard back, just delete all scim-related files.
