Hey everyone, I did some searching for some patrtiot cards and bought them from Newegg, I am getting some lockup issues when they are inserted or they just don't show up at all in the control panel under memory or in the file manager. The strange thing is they will work every once in awhile, although with an adapter they work just fine in my camera.

I wanted to know if anyone has similar issues like mine with the N810 and the latest OS upgrade. I have flashed my N810 a few times for various reasons, recently I did it thinking something was wrong and that would fix it perhaps, but alas it worked once and has not since then. Any ideas? Thanks.

The cards are the Patriot 4GB mini SDHC Flash Card Model PSF4GMSDHC6

I bought the exact same card, also from newegg, a few days ago. I haven't had any problems with it, but i haven't used it a lot yet.

Well I got 3 of them, funny thing is I just tried them again after a new reflash and adding in all my programs, 2 of the 3 work fine. Strange, I will have to keep messing with them to find out what the issue is.

I bought the same Patriot Mini SDHC 4GB card. It comes with a Mini SD to full SD adapter.

Popped the card into my N810. Seems to work at first. Followed KDE instructions to partition card and format in xterm. Then the N810 couldn't read the card anymore. File Manager tells me the card is corrupt and try repair or format. Repair doesn't fix it, and Format is greyed out. Popped it out and tried it in my PC. Couldn't read the card in WinXP - Windows Explorer hangs with hourglass until I pull the card out. Tried it in Ubuntu and it wouldn't add the drive (whereas my CF cards are detected and added automatically).

Exchange the card for another one. Tried it in my desktop first this time. Same behavior in my PC (hangs Windows Explorer with hourglass, not added in Ubuntu), so I thought I'd try another PC (XP) with another card reader. After XP detects the drive letters, none of the drive letters show the 4GB card. Autoplay pops up, goes away, pops up, goes away, etc... Tried the same card reader in a 3rd PC (XP) at home, and same deal as the 2nd PC.

Then I tried this 2nd MiniSD card in the N810. Finds it in File Manager, finds it in xterm.

Don't know what to make of it. Sure, I bought it to use as a mini SDHC card in my N810, but not being able to use it as a regular SD cards when needed doesn't make sense.

Answering my own question...

What i realize is i need sdhc card reader. Never knew a different reader was required for hc. So, using the USB cable with the N810, I transfer the files over from my PC to the 4GB miniSDHC card.

We have a couple working fine in two N810's here. First I'd make sure the card is completely seated (it has to be pushed in pretty hard). Also make sure the little "door flap" on the N810 is completely shut. If it's not completely shut, file manager won't see see the card.

What's the deal with that N810 SD slot door?
Is there some functionality that I'm missing?
Some way to use it pull the card out or something?
Seems like a goofy nuisance of a design.
